The role of ‘place’ in pedagogy: Co-creating learning environments in Bangladesh

Dr Matluba Khan is a Lecturer in Urban Design at the School of Geography and Planning at Cardiff University. Prior to joining Cardiff University, Dr Khan worked as a Research Fellow at University College London and served as an Assistant Professor in Department of Architecture at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.

Dr Khan’s research interest lies in environment-behaviour studies particularly the relationship of between design of children’s environments and their learning and wellbeing. Dr Khan is recipient of multiple international accolades for design and research of learning environments that includes EDRA Great Places Award 2016 and ASLA Honor Award 2017. Dr Khan is currently involved in multiple international research projects in Bangladesh, UK and Brazil around planning and design of child friendly environments in schools, communities and cities.
